Return to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra with Joshua Weilerstein

Ning Feng returns to perform with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Joshua Weilerstein, in his first appearance at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on 14 January 2016. Ning performs Prokofiev Violin Concerto No. 1, alongside an orchestral programme of Christopher Rouse Bump and Berlioz Symphonie fantastique.

Ning has previously performed with the RLPO with Vassily Petrenko at the podium on a major tour of China in October 2014, preceded by his debut with the orchestra in Dublin, which was highly commended by critics:

“There are a handful of violinists, both past and present who make their violins sing in an ineffably beautiful, almost celestial manner. On tonight’s performance Feng would seem to be part of this exclusive club. Forgoing the bravura inherent in the more technical sections of this concerto, he tossed off the complex double-stopping of the cadenza as if it was child’s play. He communicated effortlessly both with the orchestra and the audience, playing with the easy intimacy as one performing for a few friends at home.”
